More on Joy and Generosity

A quote from The Book of Joy

Good Evening, God

As I was reading The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World, I kept copying quotes and sending them to myself. So many ideas to ponder. This idea was from the compiler of the book, Douglas Carlton Abrams. He inserted the scientific data — of which there was a lot.

So, it seems, God, that You truly did design us to be generous. I think that our culture has worked hard to make us afraid to be generous. After all, if one is afraid of ending up homeless . . . or a bag lady . . . one has a hard time being generous. But, that might be a fear felt mostly by those who have a stuff to loose. Studies show the poor are proportionately more generous than the rich.

No matter! We are each responsible for our own self. I am responsible for battling my culture as well as the desires of my eyes and heart.

I really just wanted to share this amazing fact. That one of four brain circuits is devoted to generosity! Sigh, You have given us a true gift. Please help me use it!
