God’s Way of Farming Fish

Birds on the Veta La Palma natural fish farm

Good Morning, God!

Last night Sandy sent me a link to an article entitled “Grass-fed Fish.”  For years I’ve been buying grass-fed beef. It seems that Grass fed cows produce milk and meat filled with GOOD FAT — fat that is mostly the FAST FAT, omega 3.

After all, God, You designed cows to eat grass — grain was OUR idea. So, it isn’t too surprising that it didn’t turn out very well. Grains are full of SLOW FATS. Cows fed grains produce meat and milk filled with slow fat — omega 6 fats. You designed our Bodies and Brains to run on FAST FATS.

But back to the Grass-fed Fish, God! Actually I think the green stuff the fish are eating is microalgae that sweeps in with the ocean water as it fills the estuaries. The fish “farm” is on the southern coast of Spain. It was an old feed lot — the company that bought it just changed the flow on the channels carrying water out — so that water comes in. They returned it to Wetlands. Nature + 45 ponds produces TONS of fish — tons of great tasting fish that are going to upscale restaurants. They are fish with lots of “fast fats” in them.

This is the way You designed Your World to work, God!  It is good business, good for the environment and good for our health. After just six years of doing things YOUR WAY, God, there are 250 kinds of birds flying in to dine. The people running the place estimate that the birds eat about 20% of the fish production. They don’t mind. There is ENOUGH TO SHARE!

I’m pretty sure, God, You designed us to share.

Story teller,
