Hmm. Isn’t that a definition of leprosy? Peripheral nerves that are not able to feel our nose and toes — and fingers, even? And if we cannot feel them — then we cannot protect or care for them.

A Coral Tree and Caring People

And he had four nurses who in rotation took care of me at each step. Explaining and warning me before each action — going slow, to avoid pain and surprises. Their care transformed the experience into one of being cared for — instead of just being cut up.

To SEE, and maybe to SEE my selves?

What surprised me was that — after I had accepted and revealed these unwanted parts –They sort of faded away, I could see that In both cases those rejected parts were just trying to take care of me.

And, I have just finished Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book, David and Goliath. I think Gladwell has done more to add to my collection of Cognitive Maps than another writer I can think of.

I am quite certain that as sins go mine could be worse. But, that misses the point! The point IS that they are Mine and they are tired of being ignored and locked up. They want to come up and be dealt with — or at least acknowledged. That requires of me both personal Courage and personal Respect.
