I’m a very fortunate person, on many fronts. I am thankful! And yes, God. I remember: those to whom much is given, from them much is required.
We weret is sobering, God, to think that here in my own small self I have to depend on a Balance of Power to get along. It makes me sad that I can’t seem to manage a higher degree of inner mutual respect. But, it does help me understand how it is that we 7 billion humans have a dreadfully difficult time practicing mutual respect! Sigh.
I’m pretty sure, God, that Nations are like people. We have all bumbled and worse. How good it would be if Countries could hit the Reset Button and apologize — making amends as best we can — and truly work at living together in healthy relationships on this planet.
It puts me in mind of one of my favorite quotes (by Paul Watslawick) that the Primary Purpose of communication is to Confirm our Existence as Human Beings. It doesn’t take much — a nod, a smle, a glance, even. I think of that quote as an extension of Your Command, God, to “Love our Neighbor as we love Ourselves.”
